Anchored

Writers often focus their work on specific areas of interest or themes they value. Stacey Pardoe’s published works show her passion for children of all ages to develop a devotional spiritual life that nudges discipleship by their parents, grandparents or other relatives. Her work includes Girl to Girl for mothers and daughters, God’s Warrior for boys and a parent to share, and Heart to Heart for teen girls.

Anchored is her new release written for teens and focusing on the Old Testament and how to apply the foundational principles of our faith to the many situations hurling at teens today. Too often their exposure to the Old Testament is limited to some of the most well-known Bible stories they heard in Sunday School without much awareness of how these stories are relevant to what they may be facing as teens.

Too many young teens look at the Bible as being outdated but Stacey makes a strong statement rebutting that:

“The Bible is the only book that is alive. God wants to speak to you, guide you, heal you, and encourage you through the words of the Bible. This devotional will help you encounter God as you read his written Word.”

Each Old Testament book is represented in Anchored and each devotion begins with a Focus Verse with a few paragraphs to help understand the verse and how to apply it to your life.  Then at the end of the devotion is a Talk to God segment that includes questions to guide you in talking to God about your life.

Stacey points to the book’s theme when she writes:

“God’s Word is an anchor. It secures us to Christ in the middle of life’s storms.”

Some sample titles of more than 60 include: Feeling Sorry for Ourselves (Esau), Let Someone Else Praise You (Joseph), How to Fight Fear and Win (Moses), God Uses Imperfect People (Rahab), and Show Me A Sign (Gideon).

At the close of the devotional titles Stacey congratulates the reader with journeying with her through the insightful pages and adds these words to encourage the reader to keep going:

“God wants to reveal his character to you through his Word. Reading the Bible is one of the best ways to connect with God and develop an understanding of who he is.

Most of all, continue to seek God. He loves you relentlessly and will never stop pursuing you. Responding to his pursuit will transform your life forever.”

This book is one you don’t want to miss if you have a teen you want to see grow in the Word and develop a stronger foundation in his or her faith. It’s available on Amazon and Kindle and could be a great gift for a teen you love.
